England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test for New Zealand was against the English side in December 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The former New Zealand seamer is only likely to be present for the first Test due to his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, Southee stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England pace icon Broad had declared the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which starts on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a bad Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] team that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, before England head to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
