A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 40-year-old presenter was approached by three suspects, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.

Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a premises close to the Carlton Centre.

"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but collapsed across the street.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the assault.
