Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
