One extended cruise around the Australian Coast is being halted days after the death of an older lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the crew became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt located her body the following day.

Officials are examining the incident, in coordination with law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Head of the shipping company said that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the journey had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

Via official communication, he further stated that guests would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the individuals via chartered flights".

Authorities also released an updated announcement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" prohibiting any new passengers from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would inspect the ship in Cairns upon its coming back.

Timeline of Occurrences

The vessel originally sailed from the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the journey at the moment of the senior passenger's passing. The remote island was the opening port on the itinerary.
